On the first floor of the historic Aquarium de Biarritz building, you can find permanent exhibitions such as the murals by artist Vicky First, as well as temporary exhibitions.
The permanent exhibition

During your visit, discover the pointillist murals on the walls of the Aquarium de Biarritz, created by the artist Victoria Firth, also known as Romaround.
The English artist and her collaborator Laura spent over two months creating about ten XXL murals scattered throughout the visitor route.
Each carefully placed dot carries a strong message: inspire wonder to better protect.
Here, art becomes a powerful means of education and awareness, reminding us of the urgent need to preserve this fragile heritage against the threats it faces.

GoodBye Hippocrate - Ocean [bluz]
Until December 31, 2025
On the eve of the 90th anniversary of the Aquarium de Biarritz, the collaboration between this institution and Bayonne artist Good Bye Hippocrate seemed natural.
Known for his architectural-style illustrations, the artist pays perfect tribute to the 90 remarkable years spent aboard the Art Deco masterpiece you (re)discover today.
For this special exhibition, Good Bye Hippocrate – an emergency doctor by training and still practicing – drew inspiration from his love of marine life, his passion for the Basque Country of the 1930s, and the imagination of his memories: born in Luz, he has always been fascinated by the Sea Museum.
This is how ocean [bluz] was born, an immersive installation whose title sums up in two words the genesis and symbolic meaning of the project: [bluz] is the phonetic spelling of “blouse,” a nod to the artist-doctor; [bluz] is also the phonetic spelling of “blues,” the ocean’s melancholic wave; but above all, [bluz] is the joyful contraction of “blue” and “luz” (light in Spanish)!
Through colorful portraits of the Aquarium’s residents, the exhibition celebrates living heritage with humor and poetry. Designed as an odyssey in an architectural and invigorating universe, it pays tribute to the symbols of Biarritz and those who built this magnificent vessel as well as the residents who have since thrived in its waters.
The exhibition embodies the missions and challenges of the Aquarium de Biarritz: to educate, raise awareness, and preserve, while continuously entertaining and inspiring wonder!
