Biology : This fish is a very close relative of the napoleon wrasse. Like most wrasses, it is born female and then changes sex to become male.
Mature males display spectacular colours, as well as a fringed tail, unique among wrasses. Its powerful jaws enable it to eat hard-shelled animals, mainly molluscs.
